Privacy Policy

In short

Your birth details and your journal are sensitive, personal things. We don't use them for advertising, don't sell them, and don't give them to third-party advertising or usage-analytics tools. We use your data only to run the app, and you can delete it at any time.

What data do we collect?

• Account: your email address and password (the password is stored only as a hash).
• Profile: your name, your optional profile photo, your house system preference.
• Birth details: birth date, birth time (if you know it) and place; the place's coordinates and time zone. And the birth chart calculated from them.
• Journal and intentions: your journal entries (mood, note), the sky summary of the day of each entry, and the intentions and notes you write in the intentions journal.
• Rooms: your memberships, the visibility level you choose, compatibility scores and roles in the room.
• Reminder preferences (on/off and time). Notifications are scheduled locally on your device.

We don't ask for location permission; you choose your birth place from the city list in the app.

Why do we use it?

To calculate your birth chart and daily readings, show your journal and patterns, produce compatibility scores and roles in rooms, set up reminders and manage your account. These are necessary to provide the app; your profile photo and room sharing depend on your choice.

Who can see it?

• Only you: your birth date, time and place, your full birth chart, your journal and your intentions. These are never opened to other users.
• Room members: your name, your profile photo (if any), your Sun sign and the celestial points allowed by the visibility level you chose in the room (Sun only / big three / full); the compatibility scores calculated for you and your role. Your raw birth details are not shared.
• Everyone: your profile photo sits at a public address; anyone who knows the address can see it. If you don't want that, don't add a photo or remove it later.
• Cards you share: when you share a group card outside the app, the details on the card (group name, first names, signs and roles, photos) reach the people you share it with.

Optional AI reading

If you turn on "Personal reading" in Profile, today's sky aspects (e.g. "Moon – Venus trine") and your Sun, Moon and Rising sign names are sent to our AI provider, which writes the reading; the provider may be a service whose free tier we use and may process this data under its own terms. Your name, email, birth date, time and place, and your journal and intention notes are not sent. The feature is off by default; you can turn it off any time. The generated reading is stored in your account and deleted when your account is deleted.

Error reports

If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, a trace of the error (the error message, where in the code it happened, the app version, device model and operating system version) is sent to our service provider Sentry; its servers are in the European Union. These reports exist only to fix bugs. They do not contain your name, email, birth details, journal or intention notes, screenshots or an advertising ID, and are not used to identify you.

Where is your data stored?

Your data is stored on the infrastructure of our service provider Supabase (database, authentication, file storage); the servers may be located abroad, so your data may be transferred abroad. We don't share your data with anyone for advertising or data sales. We don't give it to third parties unless legally required and apart from the optional AI reading described above.

How long do we keep it?

For as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile, birth details, chart, journal, intentions, room memberships, the rooms you own and your profile photo are deleted. When you leave a room, your membership and your scores in that room are deleted.

Your rights

Under Article 11 of the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK, No. 6698), you have the right to learn whether your data is processed, to request information, to ask for correction or deletion, to object, and to claim compensation if you suffer harm. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local law. You can edit your data in the app (Profile → Edit birth details) and delete your account entirely. For other requests, write to us.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit; row-level access rules in the database ensure each user can reach only their own data and what their room membership allows. No system is entirely risk-free; don't share your password with anyone.

Children

Asteris isn't designed for people under 16. We delete accounts we find belong to someone under this age.

Data sources and credits

City data comes from GeoNames (geonames.org, CC-BY 4.0). Sky calculations use the astronomy-engine library (MIT).

Changes

We may update this policy; we announce important changes in the app.
